Green Pc, Not very good for gaming but what the hell.

Well I wasn't going to make an article about the new green PC that everyones making a fuss about, because of its low performance, but I really wanted to write about it so I have been trying to think of a good reason to include this in my blog but then I thought to myself

" It's my darn blog I will put whatever the heck I want in it."

Anyway Everex has come out with the TC2502 Green gPC Available at Walmart for 199$ Which as you know this is extremely cheap. Everex Has made this computer with energy saving technology and recycle materials. This and its price make it a great selling item especially for the "well informed" Walmart shopper who will look at the price tag and buy one only thinking of the great deal they are getting. Granted most people that would buy it either know what they are doing and buying it for experiments or a server, or the only thing they will be doing is simple documents and emails.

The gPC does come with some nice features

  • 1.5 GHz Via Technologies C7-D processor ( energy saving )
  • gOS Software Applications and operating system ( LINUX )
  • DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive
  • 512 MB of DDR2 system memory
  • 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
  • 80 GB hard disk drive

It also comes with a mouse, keyboard and speakers.
Everex came out with a laptop version for 300 dollars. Well Its No gaming pc but maybe I'll get one to blog on the go.

P.S. Sorry about the long wait for the new post but I have been spending the night at freinds house since new years eve gaming it up on halo 3 and call of duty 4!!

Super Mario online!

Super mario online is a new timewaster I have recently found. They have all sorts of mario games they remade. My personal favorite is the original Super Mario . They have many others like Mario 2, Luigis Revenge, Super Smash Flash, and Super Mario Pacman. All of them addicting little games to play when your bored or waiting for a download to finish.

One of the funniest features is a level maker. You choose a background and build your little heart out adding monsters and bricks coins and other obsticals to challenge you on the way. I also found it really easy to fix my map. For example during one part I couldn't jump across a distance forcing me to die everytime. All I had to do is go back and add a extra block.

Below is the level I created and perfected in about 15 minutes.

Save money and buy a Wii? I say no!

Some may think that buying a Wii to save money is a good idea. No its probably not! People who have no money like me for example tend to buy things that are cheap, A life lesson you will learn quickly is to not settle for something cheap and a low quality.. This could be the biggest waste of money if the item you bought breaks or is overwhelmingly boring.I am not saying a wii sucks because i personally enjoy the wii at party's. Anyway You first mistake would be buying a system because of its price. You should always buy a system primarily on what you want. A Wii for you not so serous gamers and adults, a Xbox360 for pretty much any one between the age 9-40 years old and the PS3 for rich gamers and hardcore gamers.

A Wii on average will cost your wallet about 250 solid dollars plus another 60 for each controller (w/ nun chuck) Ouch! Where a Xbox 360 is only around 280 dollars. I am no hater of the Wii but statistics do show a trend I have noticed as well. According to Famitsu, almost seven out of ten Wii owners aren't using the system at all! Some people are even calling the wii a fad with their only great hit being wii sports. Even more stats that seem to disagree with any thought of buying a wii is the number of games sold
“According to statistics from research firm NPD, and reported on tech.co.uk, Microsoft sell 7 games per Xbox 360 console sold, Sony sell 4 games per PS3, and Nintendo comes bottom of the class, selling only 3.44 games per Wii sold.” and the wii even comes with one of those.

Orange box

The Orange Box

Its 8:15 sunday night and I finnaly I have gotten the motivation to blog this weekend.

Its hard to cheat the system to save a little cash on the newest bestest games, but valve has offered a great deal most of you know about but probaly haven't bought.
The orange box which includes Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2 Episode One, Half Life 2 Episode Two, Portal, and Half Life 2.Add this up and the indivdual price would be 130 dollars!
The orange box contains some of the greatest games ever

October 9, 2007 -
"There's never been a package on a console like The Orange Box. For $60 you get five games: Half-Life 2, HL2: Episode One, HL2: Episode Two, Portal, and Team Fortress 2. If you're keeping score, that's one of the best shooters of all time, its two expansion packs, a new and innovative puzzle game, and an off-the-wall multiplayer game. That's in one box, on one disc. If there's one must buy game of the year, it is, without a doubt, The Orange Box. All five components are excellent, with Half-Life 2 and Episode Two being the two finest single-player first-person shooters on Xbox 360.
Accessing the five games is easy, thanks to a simple, but elegant menu system. You can hop into any of the Half-Life components without having beaten the prior versions. So, if you've played Half-Life 2 before, you can skip it (though you really should play it again), and go right into the episodic content. Also included for every game (save HL2) is director commentary which offers an in-depth look at level and map design as well as story elements for the Half-Life universe. It's about as slick a package as you will find on a console. The only failure is the horrendous box art, which I'm pretty certain was designed by a select group of mildy-talented fifth graders.
Because The Orange Box contains so many pieces, Microsoft made several exceptions to its normal rules regarding Achievements. While there are still only 1000 Gamerpoints to be earned, there are 99 Achievements to unlock (as opposed to the normal limit of 50). You can also access unique Achievement lists inside each title that are game-specific. There are some well-planned Achievements to be had. Add some spice to replaying Half-Life 2 by trying to earn every Achievement. It's quite a challenge"

FAKE

Found this info a little while back. Not really related to gaming but it Just Blows your mind.
1000 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte
1000 Kilobytes = 1 Megabyte
1000 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte
1000 Gigabytes = 1 Terabyte
1000 Terabytes = 1 Petabyte
1000 Petabytes = 1 Exabyte
1000 Exabytes = 1 Zettabyte
1000 Zettabyte = 1 Zottabyte
1000 Zottabyte = 1 Brontobyte - that is a 1 followed by 27 zeroes

Getting the most out of your computer

Disk Defragment
It's really important to defragment your computer as i found out about a month ago. I have had my computer for about 2 years now and i had yet to defragement. It took me a enormous amount of time to defrag but it made a huge difference in the end. Most of you know what this is but i met enough people that don't, that I figured some of you wouldn't.

Its really easy the only reason people don't do it a lot is because of how long it takes. You just go to Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools and click disk defragment. you should click Analyze first to see if it is even worth it. If It is just click Defragment and wait a good long while.

What does even do you ask?

Well, A hard drive works basically with movable arm writing and "unwriting" files on the disk" during deleting and moving of files and just normal computing some files might be split. In other words part of the file might be located on one side of a disk while the other part of the file is locateed on the opposing side of the disk. Since this "arm" can only move so fast your computer has to wait while the arm swings to the other side collecting the other half of the file."

Powerstrip

Powerstrip is a free program I found while trying to overclock my computer. Which is exactly what it does. So far I have not had any problems and neither has my Friend who also has it.

"Overclocking is the process of forcing a computer component to run at a higher clock rate than it was designed for or was designated by the manufacturer, usually practiced by personal computer enthusiasts in order to increase the performance of their computers. Some of them purchase low-end computer components which they then overclock to higher speeds, or overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond their factory defaults. Others overclock outdated components to keep pace with new system requirements, rather than purchasing new hardware products as expected by the computer industry.[1]"

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overclocking

"PowerStrip provides advanced, multi-monitor, programmable hardware support to a wide range of graphics cards - from the venerable Matrox Millennium I to the latest ATI X1950 Crossfire and NVidia Quad-SLI 7900. "

Here you can read the rest and download the program.http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm

Anyway It greatly improved my graphics allowing me to play oblivion on great graphics between medium -high from medium. Which is a great improvement for free. The best part is how safe it is. It has many features that will allow you to restore your computer just in case.

Disclamer!Disclamer!Disclamer!

Overclocking will shorten the life of your graphics card. Probaly void the warrenty and could over heat your computer. Make sure its worth it. If you bought a brand new card for a lot of money that works great. You might now want to do it. But if you have a crappy card and simply want to play your favorite games without lag it could be a inexpensive option.

First Post

Graphic Card

Well NVIDIA is my new hero and has taking a leap for all of us penny pinching gamers. They released there Geforce 8800 GT with 112 stream processors, half a gig of ram and a 256 bit memory interface. Which has almost as much power as the GeForce gtx .All for under 200 dollars! Well that's what PC gamer told me. I did a little research and for the most part they were true not surprisingly but actual list price is about 210 dollars which is really close, but when they said "under 200 dollars" I had a shred of hope for something around 180. http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8800gt.html

F.E.A.R. Combat

Recently I have been addicted to a free version of FEAR combat. http://www.joinfear.com/main Which is purely multi player. This is a fast paced FPS shooter PC game. The download is a big one so I suggest doing it overnight. Anyway setup is easy and so installation. My first impression was shock, I had no idea how good the graphics would be for this free game. It took a while to get used to after playing Quake Wars Enemy Territroys. I Did have some problems with the maps not loading but i don't think you will have a problem with it . So I highly recommend you download it and challange me to some TDM.
